Here you will find some info about some unacceptable comments
and other stuff related to the shooting, broadcast by radio
and / or TV stations

I received an e-mail about a 'joke song' made for the one year
anniversary of columbine. There has been no mention that I know
of about this in the media so I am posting it here to spread
the word. I don't consider this song a joke but more a very
crude attempt at humor.

the e-mail I received is below:

Dear Sir or Madam,

I think that you should be made aware of the fact that
on the lst anniversary of the horrific Columbine
massacre, two radio talk show hosts on WNEW-NY 102.7
FM called Opie & Anthony, saw fit to mark the occasion
with a light-hearted song recalling the events of the
sad, horrendous day in our history.

The song was done to a melody like "The Brady Bunch"
or some other tune that we are all familiar with.
They made sure it included a barrage of gunfire;
screaming, crying; sounds of chaos; words like blood &
guts and, of course, the inevitable trenchcoats. The
intro of the song dealt directly with the Columbine
name & date. The show airs between 2:00 p.m. & 7:00
p.m. which, of course, assures us that teenagers are
listening.

I am on a mission to get these two despicable people
off the air for a number of reasons and this one is
way at the top of my list.

It's interesting to see that some people are taking
offense at the current Bruce Springstein song alluding
to the Amadu Diallo (NY) shooting, but nothing is
being said about these two sick people joking, at
length, about the Columbine massacre.

It is appalling and disgraceful that they, Opie &
Anthony, on the anniversary of that horrific day, got
away with doing something so shameful without even a
whimper from the public.

I hope that you are as outraged as I am and plan to do
something about it. The parent company of WNEW-FM is
Infinity Broadcasting.

Thank you
Barbara

As mentioned in the above message, the 'song'
was played by talk show hosts 'Opie and Anthony'
on the following station:

Phones: (212) ###-1027
Toll Free: (877) ###-1027

the following station also carries the 'Opie and Anthony'
show, but it is not known weather the 'song' was played
there too:

WBCN FM 104.1 FM (Boston, MA)
if anyone heard it on this station let me know

Some info from a soundfile that may be a version
of this 'song' that downloaded off the Unofficial
'Opie & Anthony' webpage:

The info above shows that the file was:
RealAudio Encoded, using RealEncoder 5.1 for win95
11 khz 16 bit mono,
titled: "Dylan & Eric: The Columbine Song"
created by: Ant's Brother Joe/Cowbell Bill

It was 59 seconds long, 125k in size (1,305k
uncompressed) and contained references to Eric,
Dylan, the guns, bombs, and references to a few
of the students who were killed. and was set to
the 'Patty Duke' theme

On Wednesday May 21, 1999 Howard Stern made some very crude
comments about Columbine:

"There were some really good-looking girls running out with
their hands over their heads. Did those kids (the suspects)
try to have sex with any of the good-looking girls? They
didn't even do that? At least if you're going to kill
yourself and kill all the kids, why wouldn't you have some
sex? If I was going to kill some people, I'd take them out
with sex."

The Show is heard on
Chancellor Media's
KXPK 96.5 FM (The Peak)
in Denver.

Chancellor Media, The Peak, and Stern have all apologized
for this.
NOTE:
KXPK has since changed owners
and Howard Stern's show is no longer heard there
(this change is in no way related to the above)
